Mounted Archery / Horseback Archery

 Have you ever wanted to try Mounted Archery?  Do you want to advance your current mounted archery skills?  Come on and give it a shot.  

Heather Lomax of Hidden Creek Ranch can introduce you and your horse to the sport or advance your existing mounted archery training.  Bring your horse, or use one of HCR trained mounted archery horses.  If this is your first time trying mounted archery Heather will introduce range safety, bows used in mounted archery, nocking methods, draw techniques, unique principles for archery from horseback.  

 For those whos horses are already familiar with the sport, we will add more techniques and methods to improve your game

Each horse and rider will go at the pace that is best for them.  Many horses are able to be ridden at the walk while having a bow and arrow shot from them the first day.  Heather will put the horses first, so that their experiences remain positive while effective training is gained.

Horse archery is a modern sport adapted from  ancient warfare.  Whether you are walking, trotting, or cantering you will enjoy the thrill and empowerment this sport offers.  Come on out and give it a try!

Offering-

 Basic Introduction to Horse Archery  

If you are already and archer and are intrigued by this sport, I can help safely introduce the sport of horse archery to you. You have the option to ride and learn on our calm and steady lesson horses or bring your own.  

Basic intro to horse archery – range safety, basic techniques, learn to ride and shoot. At Hidden Creek Ranch we also host experienced clinicians for intermediate to advanced instruction.  

 In addition specializing in gaited training, horse rider relationships, bridleless riding, I am now offering training for the archery horse.

 I been swept up into the world of horse archery. There is so much to fall in love with - the thrill, the empowerment, the skill, the community of supportive horse archers! One the things I enjoy the most about horse archery or mounted archery is the training and relationship that is needed to make a safe, steady and fun equine partner that can carry it’s rider over the ground while flinging arrows at a target.

As it turns out the last twenty plus years of developing my training methods created horses with good foundations. The methods I use develop horses with trusting relationships between horse and rider, experienced in reins free, and bridleless work. This made the addition of archery horse to their resume easy and enjoyable. The archery horses I have trained carry riders from their very first arrow loosed from horseback ride; top competitors at national ranking events; as well as international riders.
